A stone lion guards the famous gate of Las Cases, whose vineyard touches Latour's own fence, and the wine lives up to both neighbours: first-growth depth delivered with monastic discipline. Cassis and black cherry drawn in exact lines, cedar and cool stone, tannins of quiet iron. The 2018 is majestic and unhurried: the lion never begs for attention.
