Missionary priests planted this vineyard across the road from Haut-Brion, and the two estates have argued in wine ever since: where the neighbour is serene, La Mission burns brighter. The 2018 is a dark flame: cassis and plum, deep smoke, cocoa, tannins of glowing intensity. Some vintages, collectors whisper, the mission wins. This may be one.
