Bordeaux, France · Château La Lagune · Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
The Médoc's floral southerner in a sunny year: violets over cassis, run by one of Bordeaux's few women at the helm.
Delivered in ~30 minutes, anywhere in Monaco
La Lagune is the first classed growth you meet driving north from the city, and under Caroline Frey's direction it has become one of the Médoc's most graceful wines, farmed organically. The warm 2015 suits it perfectly: violets and cassis, vanilla and licorice, tannins woven fine. Powerful vintages elsewhere shout; this one prefers perfume.
The sommelier’s note
«Forty minutes of air and 17 degrees. Serve it to guests who think all Médoc is stern; watch them convert.»
From the first pour to the last glass — follow it through the evening.
